Blackpool, located in Lancashire, in the North of England, is easily the most popular seaside resort in the country. Blackpool is located in The Fylde, a peninsula, bounded by Morecambe Bay to the north and the Ribble estuary to the south. Its a favourite tourist destination for millions of visitors each year. Its holiday seaside atmosphere and popular beaches located next to the Irish Sea contributes greatly to Blackpool's popularity. Manchester is about 90 minutes away by car and Liverpool and Preston are a little nearer.

The iconoic Blackpool Tower, built to a design based on France's Eiffel Tower, is part of an entertainment complex that includes the world famous Tower Ballroom and Tower Circus. Like many seaside resorts in England, Blackpool's piers are very popular. There are three in Blackpool, North Pier, Central Pier and South Pier. Each hosts a variety of holiday attractions and entertainment.
Other important Blackpool attractions include the Winter Gardens, Blackpool Zoo, the Doctor Who (Dr Who) exhibition, Louis Tussaud's Waxworks and Blackpool's distinctive double deck trams which run from Starr Gate in Blackpool to Fleetwood. Blackpool International Airport is located near the town, linking Blackpool with other towns and cities across the UK and beyond.
